Three Charities Share $31,000 Donation from Annual Road Race

Thanks to donations from the 2015 CDPHP® Workforce Team Challenge, area food pantries will be stocked; at-risk youth will have an opportunity to improve their lives; and parents can memorialize a child who has passed away.

Three local charities – The Food Pantries for the Capital District, CEO, and The Brave Will Foundation – are sharing $31,216 from the annual road race. The Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC), which organizes the event, chooses nonprofit organizations each year and encourages participants to support the selected charities. This was a record year for donations!

“We truly appreciate the continued support of the race participants, vendors, and CDPHP. Thanks to their generosity, we are able to help multiple organizations each year,” said Mark Warner, race director. “This year’s charities of choice provide much-needed services in our communities. It is a pleasure to help them continue to fulfill their missions.”

“It’s our honor to help raise funds and spread the word about each of these wonderful organizations and all they do to help our family, friends, and neighbors,” said John D. Bennett, president and CEO, CDPHP. “We applaud the efforts of HMRRC and thank all of the race participants who generously donated to such great causes.”

Here is how each organization will use the money:

  • The Food Pantries is a coalition of 53 food pantries in Albany, Rensselaer, and Saratoga counties all working together to feed the hungry. The organization will use the $12,331 it received to fill the shelves of the member pantries with food.
  • CEO creates partnerships and develops opportunities for social and economic growth and empowerment in individuals, families and communities. The organization, which offers more than 20 programs designed to help people gain self-sufficiency and independence, received $8,602. The money will be used to support the construction of CEO’s Urban Training Center, which will house the organization’s YouthBuild program.
  • Brave Will, which provides services and support for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, received $10,283. The money will support the organization’s SOAR (Steer Onward And Remember) program, which provides funding for families on the first anniversary of a child’s passing, allowing them to spend that day doing something memorable in honor of their child.
