Sondra’s Fine Jewelry Celebrates 20 Years in Business

On Tuesday, December 12, Sondra’s Fine Jewelry celebrated 20 years in business. Sondra has been a staple in the local community as well as the Capital District as a whole. She may have started out in the jewelry business, but she is now also known for her incredible generosity. She is involved with over 60 different non profits. The Chamber is honored to have such a great partner in the community. Don’t forget to stop in and enter your name in the drawing for a brand new 2017 Sea Doo Spark that is being raffled in honor of the 20 year anniversary! No purchase required!

A little history:
Sondra Stephens opened Sondra’s Fine Jewelry in Schenectady in October 15th 1997 at 1726 Union Street in what is now Musler’s. There were very few women jewelers in the industry (which is male dominated to this day). Sondra felt that she could bring something to the table in the world of Fine Jewelry. She was able to buy out the lease of a renter upstairs and a consignment shop downstairs, renovate the building putting showroom space on the first floor and offices on the second. She decided that she could offer a softer way of selling fine jewelry with the idea of a non commissioned sales staff, a showroom that invited you in as if you were in a friend’s living room, employ a fabulous woman jeweler and broker diamonds.
