SMG Promotes Doug McClaine to General Manager of Albany Capital Center

SMG and Albany Capital Center are pleased to announce the promotion of Doug McClaine to general manager of the Albany Capital Center.

As general manager, McClaine will have direct overall management responsibilities for the Albany Capital Center in regard to facility sales, finance, event coordination, parking and operations. McClaine will retain his title and duties as assistant general manager of the Times Union Center where he’s held various positions for 18 years in addition to his new role with the Albany Capital Center.

“Doug has made significant contributions in his many years with the organization,” said Bob Belber, SMG regional director of live entertainment. “This promotion is well-deserved and a natural progression for him as we prepare to open the Albany Capital Center in March.”

“I started my career at what was then the Pepsi Arena and I am proud to have been part of the growth and success of the organization,” said McClaine. “The Albany Capital Center is an exciting new chapter for my career and for the Capital Region.”

McClaine recently signed his first contracts as general manager including a two year deal with the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police. The group will be hosting their annual Spring Expo in May, 2017 and May, 2018.

A Capital Region native, McClaine is a graduate of The College of Saint Rose, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He resides in Schenectady.

Operated by SMG, the Albany Capital Center will offer space from 1,000 to 50,000 square feet, and accommodate 10 to 5,000 people. Housing 22,500 square feet of ballroom/exhibit space, 6 meeting rooms with 9,200 square feet of space, and 13,500 square feet of pre-function space, the Albany Capital Center will provide top notch amenities needed for a successful meeting or event.
