Schenectady Public Library Author Visit: Letty Cottin Pogrebin

Schenectady County Public Library is excited to host author Letty Cottin Pogrebin on Wednesday Aust 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the McChesney Room at Schenectady Public Library, located at 99 Clinton Street in Schenectady.

From feminist icon Letty Cottin Pogrebin comes SINGLE JEWISH MALE SEEKING SOUL MATE, an evocative novel about fractured identity, the legacy of trauma, and the restorative power of love. The book was made widely available in all formats (hardback, paperback, and e-book) on May 19, 2015.

In SINGLE JEWISH MALE SEEKING SOUL MATE, Zach Levy, the left-leaning son of Holocaust survivors promises his mother on her deathbed that he will marry within the tribe. When he falls for Cleo Scott, an African American activist grappling with her own inherited pain, he must reconcile his old vow to the family he loves with the present reality of the woman who may be his soul mate. A New York love story complicated by the tensions of Jewish American and African American history, SINGLE JEWISH MALE SEEKING SOUL MATE explores what happens when the heart runs counter to politics, history, and the compelling weight of tradition.

The Open Door Bookstore on Jay Street in Downtown Schenectady is offering a 20% discount on the book. You may purchase a copy prior to Sunday, August 9 by calling the store at 518.346.2719. Books will also be available for purchase (at full price) the day of the event.

Please call 518.388.4511 for more information.
