Schenectady County Public Library: Author Visit – Tom Ryan

The Schenectady Public Library will host acclaimed author and animal lover Tom Ryan on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 6:30 pm in the McChesney Room at the Central Library, 99 Clinton Street.

Mr. Ryan will discuss his newest book, Will’s Red Coat, about “the importance of letting go and leaping forward, of the depth of despair, the height of love, and the bonds of friendship.” This story of acceptance and perseverance is heartfelt and inspirational as Tom chronicles his adoption of Will, an elderly, sickly dog he brings home to have peace in his last days.

Tom Ryan is the founder of the Newburyport Massachusetts newspaper The Undertoad, and served as its publisher and editor for over a decade. In 2007, he sold the newspaper and moved to the White Mountains of New Hampshire to hike with his miniature schnauzer, Atticus M. Finch, climbing more than 2,500 peaks and writing the New York Times bestseller Following Atticus about the experience.

The Open Door Bookstore is offering a 20% discount on the book until Saturday, April 29. Copies may be pre-ordered by calling the store at 346.2719. Books will also be available for purchase at full price on the day of the event. This program is possible with the support of the Friends of the Library.
