October 28, 2015SCCC School of Music Signed Articulation Agreement with The Hartt School
Dr. William A. Meckley, Dean of the the Schenectady County Community College School of Music, today announced that the College has signed an articulation (transfer) agreement with The Hartt School at the University of Hartford.
The Hartt School, one of the most prestigious conservatories in the country, has agreed to accept credits earned by students at SCCC who transfer to The Hartt School in order to obtain a four-year degree.
“We are very proud of this agreement with The Hartt School, as it is yet another validation of the great work our students and faculty are doing here at the SCCC School of Music,” said Dr. William A. Meckley. “Some of our students have transferred to Hartt in the past, so school administrators know the quality of our students and our programs. Our students will now be able to transfer to The Hartt School with the assurance that their credits will be accepted, and they will be able to finish in a timely fashion.”
“It is no surprise that The Hartt School has recognized the excellence of our School of Music and of the faculty and students involved in our programs,” said Dr. Steady H. Moono, SCCC President. “This is a great step for the College, the School of Music, students and community members who can remain confident that we are offering high-quality education that is accessible, affordable and recognized by our peers across the country.”
“Partnering with the Schenectady County Community College School of Music to fully honor credits earned here was not a difficult decision to make,” said T. Clark Saunders, Interim Dean of The Hartt School. “We have seen first-hand the high caliber of students produced by the programs here. These are the kinds of students who flourish at The Hartt School and go on to do great things in the world of performing arts. We are looking forward to working with the SCCC School of Music for many years to come.”
SCCC alumni have transferred to many of the top music programs in the country, but this is the first such agreement between the College’s School of Music and an out-of-state school.
The SCCC School of Music offers the Performing Arts – Music A.S. degree, an A.A.S in Music Business, an A.A.S.in Music Audio Technology degree and a Music certificate program. The school opened its new, 12,600-square-foot addition in 2013. The building includes an industry-standard live recording studio, specialized classrooms, performance spaces, practice rooms and offices.
