The summit will bring together local, regional and national leaders and foster better connections with businesses; local government; international exchange, development and education non-governmental organizations; and the U.S. Department of State. Participants will deepen their understanding of U.S. public diplomacy and foreign policy and gain a better understanding of the importance of international exchange programs and the abundance of strong local community resources.

“Sage is proud to host such a prestigious event as there are only four summits of this kind held each year,” exclaimed Susan Scrimshaw, president of The Sage Colleges. “The theme of women’s empowerment and leadership is appropriate as the Sage Colleges celebrates 100 years of empowering its students through education. We all play a critical role as influencers in our local communities and abroad and this is a way to bring together individuals of diverse backgrounds for a unique exchange of ideas and information.”

The International Center of the Capital Region (ICCR) which is located on the Russell Sage campus in Troy is celebrating its 60th anniversary as well its team’s efforts to promote citizen diplomacy and global understanding throughout upstate New York. “ICCR worked diligently to secure this award which enabled us to bring this summit to the Capital Region,” explained ICCR Executive Director Diane Conroy-LaCivita. “We are thrilled to be partnering with The Sage Colleges for this event and are excited to provide such a wonderful opportunity for the Capital Region community.”

Participants will include President Scrimshaw, New York State Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, U.S. Diplomacy Center Senior Advisor Henry Mendelsohn, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, and former New York State Assemblymember Jack McEneny among others.
