Registration Opens for Schenectady JCC Summer Camps

As of February 11, registration is open to Schenectady JCC members for summer camps at Schenectady JCC (SJCC), a tradition for more than 80 years.  Registration will open on March 5 for Kid’s Time Families and on March 26 for the general public.

For 2018, Camp Chaverim’s superhero theme will teach kids (3 years to 6th grade) and tweens (6th – 8th grade) to leap tall buildings in a single bound and be more powerful than a locomotive as campers build teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship skills.

Camp offers a variety of experiences including swimming, sports, crafts, music, dance, science, nature, mitzvah days (volunteer days), field trips, overnights, and interaction with shlichim, counselors from Israel, who provide a new perspective and share their experiences of home and life in Israel.

SJCC has developed a strong program of themed activities steeped in Jewish values using the JCC Association’s TAG curriculum: Torah (learning and living), Avodah (service and spirituality), and Gemilut Chassadim (acts of loving kindness).

More than 300 kids will participate in eight weeks of activities with 70+ staff members.

The camp calendar runs from Monday, June 25 through Friday, August 17 (no camp on July 4).  The camp day runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with extended care available in the morning (7:00 – 9:00 am) and /or afternoon (4:00 – 6:00 pm) for additional fees. Eight-, two- and one week specialty camp- sessions are available.

SJCC is proud to announce the return of the Camp-A-Toga initiative which provides easier access to the Jewish Summer Camp tradition by offering transportation from pick up points in Southern Saratoga County to the SJCC campus on Balltown Road in Niskayuna. Residents of Clifton Park and Saratoga are asked to reference the “Saratoga Initiative” when making inquiries.

Schenectady JCC will also offer three Specialty Camps this summer (half-days, from 9:00 am-12:30 pm.): Physics of the Force with MiSci (July 9- 13 for grades 3-6); Kidz Art (August 6-10 for grades 2-6); and the Casper Wells Baseball Academy (August 13-17 for grades 2-6)
