Opera Saratoga Calls on Local Dancers for Upcoming Production

Opera Saratoga announces open auditions for male and female dancers for a new production of André Grétry’s operatic adaptation of Beauty and the Beast – Zémire et Azor – which will be directed by Obie Award winning director and puppeteer James Ortiz and choreographed by Jill Echo as part of Opera Saratoga’s 2017 Summer Festival.

For this production, male dancers must be at least 6’ tall, and female dancers must be at least 5’9” to be eligible for consideration. Dancers should be professionally trained in ballet and modern dance. Experience with puppetry is valuable but not required.

Dancers must be available full time for rehearsals and performances for a seven-week period, starting on May 29th, ending on July 14th, 2017.  Each dancer will receive $400 per week for their participation in the production.

Auditions will take place at 6:30pm on Wednesday March 29th in Dance Studio 2 of The Skidmore Dance Center at Skidmore College,  815 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.  Dancers are advised to bring a resume and headshot to the audition.
