New York’s Oldest Museum Celebrates 225th Birthday

The Albany Institute of History & Art, New York’s oldest museum, turns 225th years old on February 26! The museum staff and members of the board of trustees will host elected officials and community representatives for remarks and a special birthday cake cutting by President George Washington. The event starts at 10 a.m. at the Albany Insitute of History & Art, 125 Washington Avenue in Albany. Free parking is available in the museum lot at the corner of Dove and Elk Streets.

Founded in 1791, when George Washington was President, the museum is proud of this significant achievement and will celebrate this milestone throughout the year with anniversary exhibitions, special events, and public programming.
