New Parenting Group for Single Parents

The Schenectady Public Library Mont Pleasant Branch in partnership with Schenectady City Schools, Samaritan Counseling, Strong Families Schenectady, and Ellis Mental Health are offering a free 6-week long program for single parents of middle and high school age students. This program runs from Saturday, January 30 through March 5, 2016 from 12:30 – 2 p.m.

Supporting Our Youth: Parents Helping Parents is a new community group that will bring single parents together to tackle some of the biggest challenges that families face. We will tackle some of the biggest challenges that face us as single parents.  Learn effective strategies for parenting your teenagers including:  identifying negative patterns and obstacles that prevent positive relationships with you teenager and develop strategies for positive change in parenting style.

Parents and guardians are welcome to bring their children along as we will provide free professional childcare and refreshments.

This group is facilitated by Daniel Kulzer, LCSW. Daniel works at Samaritan Counseling and is known for his work with families and at risk adolescents.

There is no cost to participate and you can register by calling any SCPL location or register yourself online through the library’s calendar of events.
