Hudson River Community Credit Union Invests in Members’ Security with Latest Executive Management Hire

Hudson River Community Credit Union continued its personal commitment to its members with a tangible investment in member security. HRCCU announces the addition of William Peterson to its Executive Management Team as Vice President of Risk Management and Chief Information Security Officer.

For more than two decades, William has been on the forefront of researching and implementing cutting-edge banking security practices and guiding financial institutions through the near constant digital transformations required to deliver a top customer experience. From the introduction and significant expansion of online banking to the development of banking apps, William has been on the frontlines with the singular focus of keeping banking customers’ private information just that: private. A board member of ISACA (formerly Information Systems Audit and Control Association) since 2012, William has played an active role in implementing IT and cybersecurity frameworks and best practices that outline how to utilize and manage technology from a security and risk standpoint.

“When customers utilize banking technology, they expect ease of access, responsive and personalized applications and above all else, for their information to remain safe and secure,” said William Peterson, HRCCU Vice President of Risk Management and Chief Information Security Officer. “The age of digital evolution also can mean heightened risk, and my number one priority is ensuring HRCCU members’ personal information is securely stored and protected from all undue risk. I am honored to join this team of mission-driven professionals. They share my dedication to providing the gold standard of member service in a way that is dynamic and innovative, while remaining committed to the personal touch brick and mortar locations provide.”

In this role, William will be responsible for clearly defining, measuring and mitigating risk, managing HRCCU’s information technology and information security, and identifying new technologies to make available to HRCCU members and how to deliver these services in a secure manner.

“HRCCU’s philosophy of establishing, cultivating and sustaining individualized relationships with our members has made us a unique institution that serves all ages and all walks of life,” said Sue Commanda, CEO of Hudson River Community Credit Union. “Throughout our history, we have made it our mission to put our members’ needs first and have listened as those needs have changed and expanded.

By adding William to our team, we are putting into action our deep commitment to providing unrivaled service for our members, and protecting their most valuable assets. William’s professional foundation and personal commitment to our values make him an outstanding addition to our team.”
