Greenmarket Receives Grant from Schenectady County

Schenectady Greenmarket is happy to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Schenectady County Legislature through its County Initiative Program for the market’s weekly music series.

Since 2008, Schenectady Greenmarket has worked to stitch together farm and city while celebrating local food in a festive community atmosphere with music at its core. Each week the market offers four hours of varied local music to customers and community members through the music series. The funds from the Schenectady County Initiative Program allow the market to continue to provide the musicians who play at the market a small fee for their services.

In 2015, Schenectady Greenmarket was voted the 13th most popular farmers market in the country by an American Farmland Trust poll. In the same year, it welcomed over 125,000 guests to the market with hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales for the market’s vendors – local farmers, artisans and food producers.

“We are very happy to have once again received this grant from Schenectady County,” said Jennifer Jennings, market manager for Schenectady Greenmarket. “The music series at our market creates a wonderful atmosphere. Each week customers sit in the audience around the musical stage, listen, enjoy and even dance. This grant will allow us to ensure the continuation of festive music for the guests at our market.”

A calendar of events may be found on the market’s website. Schenectady Greenmarket’s music calendar for the next six weeks is as follows:
