Seventh annual exhibition of photographs, documents, medals and other memorabilia related to veterans and active service personnel with a connection to Hudson Valley Community College. Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease
Noon – 1 p.m., Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium
This program is designed to provide basic information that everyone needs to know about memory loss issues and what they mean for all of us. The program explores the difference between memory loss brought about by normal aging vs. Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Presented by the Psychology Club. Barbara Owen – Vivid Forms: Cut Paper and Installations
10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Teaching Gallery, Administration Building
Barbara Owen’s exhibition of wall installations is composed entirely of hand-painted and cut paper. Owen, a trained sculptor who has been painting for several years, presents cut paper works that blur the line between painting and sculpture. The Rhode Island-based artist’s compositions recall lace or crochet work yet are free of recognizable or repeating patterns, and invite the viewer to examine the subtle boundary between flat work and the third dimension.
“Vivid Forms” is on view through Saturday, Dec. 2. Teaching Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday; 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday, Monday and Nov. 22-26.

Climate Change and Climate Justice in New York
11 – 11:50 a.m., Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium
The impacts of climate change are felt throughout the world. New York is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions resulting from burning fossil fuels. Communities are developing their own resilience plans to mitigate the impact created by worsening heat waves, storms and floods. Eleanor Stein, J.D., LL.M in Climate Change Law, Albany Law School, presents our state’s initiatives to address climate change. Presented by Voices: A Library Lecture series.

Speak-Off Competition

Present a three-to-four-minute speech on the topic: “What it takes to be an entrepreneur. Open to all students; $100 prize and winner travels to SUNY Plattsburgh in March to compete for a $750 prize.
