Downtown Albany Restaurant Gets New Owner, Menu

ALBANY, NY… The Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) announces the grand opening of Dawn’s Victory Sports Café at 10 Sheridan Avenue on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 5:00 PM. Albany Mayor Kathy M. Sheehan, BID executive director Georgette Steffens, and owner Dawn Lynch are expected to speak. The media and public are invited to attend the ribbon cutting, which will be immediately followed by a celebration featuring appetizers and beverages.

“We see new life being breathed into downtown Albany every day through large-scale projects and locally-owned businesses like Dawn’s Victory Sports Cafe,” says Mayor Sheehan. “Congratulations to Dawn Lynch on the opening of her restaurant.”

Introducing a new look and menu to the well-known home of The Victory Café, Dawn’s Victory Sports Café will have some amenities expected of a sports bar – including NFL package games shown on multiple televisions – Lynch says the new menu will include healthier options patrons might not see in other similar establishments. Renovations to the dining room and banquet space will also give the restaurant an updated look and feel.

“After nearly two decades of working Downtown, Dawn Lynch has a true understanding of what customers want and need,” says Georgette Steffens, executive director of the Downtown Albany BID. “For current residents, employees, and the growing number of visitors we anticipate once the Albany Capital Center opens, hospitality knowledge will be increasingly important in serving the growing community.”

Lynch, who has worked in the restaurant business since she was 16, has been in downtown Albany for 18 years. It is her affinity for the industry, Downtown, and this location on Sheridan Avenue that led her to purchase the business.

“I really enjoy the restaurant business,” Lynch says. “It is long hours, but I like that it’s different every day. A lot of people who haven’t been to this location in years are coming back. We’re getting great, positive feedback, and that helps make the long days rewarding.”
