Diane Conroy-LaCivita Appointed Executive Director of Colonie Senior Service Centers

The Board of Directors of Colonie Senior Service Centers, Inc. (CSSC) has appointed Diane Conroy-LaCivita as Executive Director, effective August 1. Diane joined CSSC with a diverse background, specializing in management, training, planning and development, and fiscal management.

As Executive Director of CSSC, Conroy-LaCivita will help grow the numerous programs and services for seniors in the Capital Region including the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of the Capital Region, Umbrella of Colonie, Transportation Services, Senior Dining, Bright Horizons Adult Day Services, Healthy Aging programs, and more. CSSC also manages three of the area’s independent 55+ senior living facilities at the Beltrone Living Center, Sheehy Manor and the new King Thiel Senior Community. In total, CSSC’s programs and services serve over 6,000 seniors and their families annually.

Conroy-LaCivita succeeds Ed Neary. Neary has served as CSSC’s Executive Director since 2001, leading the organization to grow from an annual budget of $1 million to more than $8 million in 2016. He has expanded programming in ways that include Umbrella of Colonie and the recently opened King Thiel Senior Community.

Prior to CSSC, Conroy-LaCivita was a co-proprietor with the Harmony House Marketplace in Cohoes as well as Executive Director at the International Center of the Capital Region. While at the Harmony House Marketplace, she worked with federal, state and local agencies to rehabilitate and restore historic structures in downtown Cohoes, ultimately assisting with the revitalization and economic development of the city.

As Executive Director of the International Center of the Capital Region, Conroy-LaCivita worked with the US Department of State, US Congress and National Program agencies to create and implement professional programs and host a variety of specific delegations in the Capital Region and Upstate New York.  She also represented the United States through the World Affairs Council on international exploratory mission to Azerbaijan, Ireland and Turkey.

“Colonie Senior Service Centers’ Board of Directors thanks Ed for his excellent work and wishes him well as he moves into retirement. We look forward with confidence to Diane building on the strong foundation he has established,” said Dr. Russell Ward, President of CSSC’s Board of Directors.
