Chamber Plans to Relocate Office in Downtown Schenectady

In an effort to better serve its members and the community, the Capital Region Chamber is embarking upon a process to relocate its Schenectady office. The Chamber has owned its current building, located at 306 State Street, since 1995. Flanked by the New Choices building on the corner of Erie and State and the former Rudnick’s store, both of which are for sale, the availability of the Chamber building completes a major redevelopment opportunity on the lower end of the 300 block.

The Chamber is seeking to lease new offices in the downtown Schenectady area. The organization anticipates the move to occur near the end of the year, or during the first quarter of 2017. It has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for new offices. The Chamber intends to sell its current building once new office space has been secured.

“A vibrant presence in Schenectady is crucial to our Chamber’s mission to provide greater influence and opportunities for our members and our communities,” said Capital Region Chamber Chairman Kevin McCoy of Marvin and Company. “We look forward to securing a facility to professionally, efficiently and effectively serve our members and community.”

Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy added, “The Chamber is a strong partner and steadfast champion in our downtown’s rebirth.  I’m pleased the organization will remain downtown and look forward to the prospects this building provides to redevelop a major portion of the 300 block.”

Those who wish to receive a copy of the RFP may contact Susan Rank at 518.431.1422 or srank@capitalregionchamber.com. The deadline for submissions is June 10, 2016.
