CDWBA Legal Project Honors Tully Rinckey PLLC Partner’s Work for Domestic Violence Victims

Tully Rinckey PLLC Partner Barbara J. King’s tireless work on behalf of domestic violence victims earned her the 2015 Stanley A. Rosen Memorial Award from the Legal Project of Capital District Women’s Bar Association (CDWBA) on Wednesday. At an award luncheon at the Century House in Latham, Ms. King, of Latham, received the award for her pro bono work on behalf of domestic violence clients and her professionalism. In 2014 alone, Ms. King worked 27 pro bono hours for clients. Since joining the firm in 2007, she has worked over 240 pro bono hours on more than 25 cases.

“We’ve always felt fortunate to have Barb on our team, and this award shows how lucky the Capital Region is to have such a hardworking and caring attorney living and working here. We congratulate Barb on receiving the Stanley A. Rosen Memorial Award,” said Tully Rinckey PLLC Founding Partner Greg T. Rinckey.

Ms. King’s dedication to helping low- to middle-income clients has long made her a recognized leader in the Capital Region’s legal community. Last year she received the CDWBA’s Kimberly A. Troisi-Paton Leadership Award for being an “unsung hero” whose leadership has greatly benefited the organization, the community and women in general. In 2012, the New York Law Journal similarly recognized Ms. King as a “Lawyer Who Leads by Example,” especially for her work in developing the Schenectady County Bar Association’s Modest Means Panel Program. This program provides low-income litigants in Schenectady County with reduced legal fee services for divorce and family law cases. For helping establish this program, she also received the Schenectady County Human Rights Commission’s Justice Award in 2011 and was named “Lawyer of the Year” by the Schenectady County Bar Association in 2010.

Ms. King has been practicing family and matrimonial law for 27 years. During that time, she has also received the American Bar Association Difference Maker Award from the Solo/Small Practice Section in 2009; the New York State Bar Association Pro Bono Award in 2004; the CDWBA’s Volunteer Attorney Award in 2001; and the Suffolk County Pro Bono Award in 1994. She received her juris doctorate from CUNY School of Law in 1987.
