Capital Region Buddy Walk Set

The 2015 Capital Region Buddy Walk will be held Sunday, September 27, at Schenectady Central Park, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to the walk, there will be entertainment, arts and crafts, children’s activities, information booths, food and fun. Funds raised from the Buddy Walk support educational programs, social services and health resources provided to individuals and families by the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center, a division of the Center for Disability Services.

The local one mile walk is open to participants of all ages and abilities. Everyone is encouraged to show support for the Buddy Walk and participants do not need to have a family member or friend who has Down syndrome in order to sign up.

Nationally, the Buddy Walk was established in 1995 to promote the community inclusion and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. Walkers are invited to celebrate the abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. The Capital Region Buddy Walk is one of 250 held across the country, and it was established 19 years ago.
