ALBANY – CAP COM Federal Credit Union just got a whole lot bigger.
The second largest credit union in the Capital Region recently joined the CO-OP Shared Branch Network, allowing members access to more than 5,000 additional participating branches across the nation.
“By joining the CO-OP Shared Branch Network, we’ve given our members the option to visit a branch that is most convenient to them, even if it isn’t a CAP COM branch,” said President/CEO Paula Stopera. “Whether you are on vacation, are a student at college or live in an area that doesn’t have a CAP COM branch nearby, you can still receive the personalized service you deserve as a credit union member.”
CAP COM’s branch network has tripled in size over the past decade. The credit union currently has nine branches and will break ground on branch number 10 in Malta this fall. While keeping pace with current technology that puts banking in the palm of the hands of its members, CAP COM recognizes that some members still prefer to visit a branch to conduct transactions.
The national CO-OP Shared Branch network links participating credit unions electronically, allowing credit union members to access their account information and perform select transactions. It is yet another example of credit union membership offering both individualized attention and nationwide availability working together in a way that competing banks typically do not.
“That friendly, face-to-face interaction is what credit unions are all about,” Stopera said. “The CO-OP Shared Branch Network exemplifies the spirit that makes credit unions so unique – our primary goal is to help our members make the best financial decisions they can. We support each other so the credit union movement will continue to grow.”
