Berkshire Bank and Norman Rockwell Museum Partner, Welcome Nearly 300 Veterans and Active Military to “Love a Vet” Exhibit

Berkshire Bank, America’s Most Exciting Bank®, partnered with Norman Rockwell Museum to provide free admission for U.S. veterans and active military to the “Love a Vet: Honoring Our Veterans” exhibit. The free vouchers allowed veterans to visit the museum for the full run of the veterans display, from November 7, 2015 through January 5, 2016.

The partnership proved to be a great success, resulting in 284 veterans, active military and their family members admitted into the exhibit and over 50,000 people engaged online through social media and the exhibition’s web presence.  Free admission was given as part of the Military and Veterans’ personal and business banking package that was expanded by Berkshire Bank in November 2015.

”We are so pleased to have had the opportunity to partner with Norman Rockwell Museum and give our servicemen and servicewomen the ability to view the Love a Vet exhibit,” says Lori Gazzillo, Director of Berkshire Bank Foundation. “It is truly exciting to find new ways to both support the local community and give back to veterans.”

“Love a Vet” was organized by Ella Rue, an artist herself and mother to a veteran of both the Afghan and Iraq wars. Rue selected the work of many different artists utilizing a wide array of mediums, and many of the artists included were either affiliated with the military or had the opportunity to create artwork based on individuals who have served.

Laurie Norton Moffatt, Director and CEO of Norman Rockwell Museum stated, “Partnerships with socially–responsible businesses, like Berkshire Bank help to make the important work of the Museum, accessible to more people.   Sharing the meaningful art in the “Love A Vet” exhibition, with our veterans and active military through free admission and collaborative promotion was made possible by the Museum’s long-time supporters at Berkshire Bank.”

Berkshire Bank has a history of making banking easier for our servicemen and servicewomen by providing discounts, money management tools, banking and lending offers to save money.   The Military and Veterans’ personal and business package was refreshed for Veterans Day in order to recognize and further honor these individuals. The details of this package can be viewed on the Berkshire Bank site.

The museum effort was an additional way for Berkshire Bank to show appreciation to the veterans within the community while sponsoring a significant exhibit.
