Albany Barn to Celebrate Opening of Teaching Kitchen at 6th Annual FUSION Fundraiser

Albany Barn, a creative arts incubator and community arts center, announced today that its annual FUSION event will take place on Friday, October 20. This year’s event, dubbed the ‘anti-gala,’ will also celebrate the opening of a new teaching kitchen at The Barn and the forthcoming opening of a third location in Schenectady.

In honor of the opening of the Teaching Kitchen, FUSION will feature an all female line-up of eight unique chefs, led by BlueStar All-Star Chef Michelle Hines Abram Thibeault, of the newly launched MHAT, LLC, a full service catering and hospitality management consulting firm based in Saratoga.

The event’s annual Artists Challenge theme is ‘form and function,’ which pays homage to the style and functionality of the artists’ lofts at The Barn. The theme calls for works that apply fine-art techniques to functional objects, or transform functional objects into works of art. Five Albany Barn artists will feature their work at the event, including crowd-favorites Emily Dorr and Tabitha Heisch, and newcomer Duane Todman.

Presented in partnership with the Albany Chefs’ Food & Wine Festival, FUSION will also feature craft beer from Druthers Brewing Company, wine pairings, a performance by Victory Soul Orchestra, and the 2017 championship round of live-painting competition series “Battle of the Brushes,” hosted by resident artist Sam Davies.

Major sponsors of FUSION include: BBL Construction, Phillips Lytle LLP, Sneeringer Monahan Provost & Redgrave Title Agency, Fenimore Asset Management/FAM Funds, Stratford Capital Group, Elite Venture Media, Overit, Upstate Magazine, Druthers Brewing, All Over Albany, and First Light Fiber.
